Insert Special Characters Without Add-on in Google Sheets

Published on

Special characters are useful to spice up your Google Sheets. You can insert special characters without add-on in Google Sheets that including emojis.

I normally use special characters like pointing hand ☞, clockwise arrow ⃕, heart ❤ symbol, objects like telephone ☎ etc. in Google Sheets. All these you can insert into cells in Google Sheets and adjust the size and also change the color.

I have seen Google Sheets add-on that we can use to insert special characters and emojis in Google Sheets. As a blogger, not a Google Sheets user, I am not a big fan of add-ons.

The reason, I find myself many add-on publishers change their ‘color’ later. Just imagine that you had introduced a free add-on to your friend and later found that the add-on is now a paid one or discontinued their service. I have faced such a dilemma many times in the past with Chrome add-ons.

Back to the topic. To insert special characters in Google Sheets, the better option is to depend on Google Docs. At the time of writing this post, there is no option within Google Sheets to insert special characters and emojis.
