I picked these photographs in 2009 when I visited Khajuraho with my then colleagues. One of the well preserved cultural heritage sites in India, this place is near to Jhansi, in Madhya Pradesh, India. Khajuraho is well known for its erotic sculptures. I was working nearby Jhansi that time, so it could only take a few hours journey for us to reach there. Our driver was a local guy so he took us there through the village routes to Khajuraho. A memorable night journey through dense forests, remains of fortress and finally the place where the past embraces the present.
Khajuraho, the UNESCO world heritage site is being visited by lots of people from across the country as well as foreign countries. The erotic sculptures on the walls of the giant temples in Khajuraho is unique in its kind in the world.
If you plan to visit Khajuraho, try to explore ‘unknown’ places near to this place. If you have read the Hindu epic “Mahabharata”, you may have come across “Bhimkund”. Its a holy lake or you can say a pond with transparent water. With the help of a local driver you can reach this place. Read the Wiki page here.
